Marina Hatsopoulos

Marina Hatsopoulos is an entrepreneur and investor who was a pioneering figure in the commercialization of 3D printing technology. She was the founding CEO and, with her co-founder Dr. Walter Bornhorst, was a primary investor in Z Corporation from 1994 through its successful sale in 2005, during which time their young management team, including Tom Clay and John Kawola, grew the company into a market leader in 3D printing technology for producing physical prototypes from design data at low cost and high speed. She co-founded Z Corporation after discovering the technology through MIT's Technology Licensing Office and licensing it with Bornhorst and the technology's inventors from MIT, Dr. Jim Bredt and Tim Andersen. A Brown University and MIT graduate, Hatsopoulos has continued her involvement in technology entrepreneurship as a board member, angel investor, and guest lecturer at MIT, and represents an important strand of the Boston area's early leadership in hardware innovation.
