As computers shifted from specialized military and corporate mainframes into ubiquitous consumer products, they fundamentally reorganized social structures, communication methods, and cultural values. Tech pioneers featured in this project did not just build technical systems. They actively participated in the creation of a new digital culture. Interviewees reflect the early communities that emerged around shared enthusiasm for computing, including homebrew clubs and user groups. They offer sharp, historically grounded perspectives on how the tools they built have altered human behavior, tracking both the democratizing potential and the unforeseen social fragmentations of our interconnected world.
